ANY QUESTIONS? WE GOT YOU!
The best time to go on safari depends entirely on what you want to experience. Whether you're looking for exceptional wildlife sightings or lush, vibrant landscapes, we tailor your trip to match your interests. By sharing your preferences with us - whether it's the dry season for better animal sightings or the wet season for beautiful greenery and birdwatching - we'll ensure you get the safari experience that suits you best
Our BHS safaris are fully hosted experiences. That means your daily game drives or guided walks, accommodation, all meals, teas, and coffees are included. Most safaris also include local drinks, park fees, and transfers within the reserve. International flights, premium spirits, and gratuities are usually extra – but we’ll always make sure you know exactly what’s covered before you travel.
Yes! Many of the camps and lodges we work with welcome families and love inspiring the next generation of wildlife enthusiasts. We’ll advise on the best lodges for kids (with child-friendly activities, flexible dining, and shorter game drives) versus those better suited to adults. Tailor-made family safaris are one of our specialties.
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. At BHS we listen to what matters most to you – whether that’s a remote tented camp with a fire under the stars, a chic lodge with all the luxuries, or a private villa for the whole family. Then we match you to the best-available options in our network, hand-picked by Brett and the team. Every place we recommend has been tried, tested, and trusted to deliver comfort, character, and a true sense of place.
Your safety is our top priority. Every BHS safari is guided by highly qualified professionals with years of field experience. Camps and lodges follow strict safety protocols, vehicles are well-maintained, and walking safaris are always led by armed and accredited guides. We’ll brief you on everything you need to know, so you can relax and enjoy the adventure.
Pack light, neutral-coloured clothing (greens, browns, khakis), comfortable walking shoes, a warm layer for chilly mornings, and a hat and sunglasses for sunny afternoons. Don’t forget sunscreen, insect repellent, and your camera or binoculars. Most camps provide laundry, so you don’t need to overpack. We’ll send you a full packing list before your trip.
This depends on where you’re travelling. Some destinations require malaria precautions or proof of yellow fever vaccination. We recommend checking with your doctor or a travel clinic at least six weeks before you travel. We’ll also provide destination-specific guidance so you can be fully prepared.
Most safaris begin with a short flight from a major hub (like Johannesburg, Cape Town, Nairobi, or Arusha) into the nearest bush airstrip or lodge airstrip. We’ll help you arrange the easiest connections and transfers, whether by scheduled flight, charter plane, or road transfer.
Policies vary by lodge and operator, but generally the closer to travel you cancel, the higher the penalty. We’ll always explain the terms clearly before you book. To give you peace of mind, we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers cancellations, delays, and medical emergencies.
If your safari includes light aircraft flights, luggage is usually limited to 15–20kg per person, in soft-sided bags (no hard suitcases). This is for safety and space reasons. Don’t worry – camps provide laundry, and we’ll give you tips for packing smart.
That’s right! Nearly all lodges and camps provide daily laundry service, often complimentary. It means you can pack light, which is especially helpful with luggage limits on safari flights.
Yes – depending on the time of year and destination, many lodges run stay-longer, pay-less specials, family discounts, or added-value offers. We also share BHS exclusive hosted journeys that include unique access sand experiences at great value. Ask us what’s available when you’re ready to book.
